Collagen

Ladies, Let’s Talk Collagen

I’ve been curious about collagen lately, so I did a little digging — and guess what, it’s simpler than I thought and even quite interesting.

Honestly, collagen is something I’ve heard about for years, but I always assumed it was one of those “rich and famous, movie‑star” things. Not for regular people like us.

But now that I’m noticing a few changes — hair thinning, skin looking a little dull, and of course those creaky feeling joints — I started wondering if there was more to it. So I finally decided to look into it.

Here’s the quick version of what I learned:

What is Collagen

Collagen is something our bodies naturally make. It keeps our skin firm, our joints moving smoothly, and our hair and nails strong. Unfortunately, as we get older, our bodies just don’t make as much of it anymore. That’s when so many people look for supplements.

What it may help with:
• Softer, more hydrated skin
• Stronger nails
• Healthier‑looking hair
• Happier joints

What to watch for:
• Not everyone sees big changes
• Some people get mild digestive upset
• Quality really matters, as does consistency in taking

How to choose a good one:

• Look for “hydrolyzed collagen” or “collagen peptides”

• Check the source (bovine, marine, or chicken) • Pick brands that test for purity

• Avoid fillers and artificial sweeteners

• Match the type to your goals — Type I & III are the most common, and a supplement containing both may support hair, nails, joint health, and skin elasticity

• Look for words like “third‑party tested” or “NSF certificated”

Bottom line:
Collagen isn’t magic, but it can be a gentle little boost for your skin, joints, hair, and nails. If you’re curious, it might be worth trying for a month or two to see how your body responds.

It's not everyone's choice but I have chosen to try it. I have been noticing changes in my skin for sure but mostly my joints. I think it's worth a try.

Vital Proteins is a popular brand and can be found in many stores and online..

Below is a picture of the type I have chosen to try.

Organika Brand, from Amazon. I paid $24.49 for 250 grams. I just add a scoop to my coffee every morning and NO, - fortunately - I do not taste it however, if that does not appeal to you or you do not drink coffee you can always add it to a smoothie too. Anyway, I will keep you posted.

But what about you? Is this something you have tried? If so, please share your experience, if you don't mind.

Perhaps Collagen is not something you are interested in. Totally fine, of course, perhaps you wouldn't mind sharing your thoughts on that.

Either way, it's like anything else. Do what works for you!!
